A Quality Management System for data, software, and guidelines developed by MathMet

Speaker: Keith Lines, Data Science Department, National Physical Laboratory UK

Date: 18th October 2022, at 12:00-13:00 CEST

The European Metrology Network for Mathematics and Statistics (MathMet) brings together expertise from European National Metrology institutes (NMIs) and Designated Institutes (DIs) in applied mathematics, statistics, and computational tools.

An overview will be presented of a quality management system (QMS), developed by MathMet. This QMS will help ensure that data sets, software and guidelines on which MathMet will rely are of a sufficient level of quality. Questions such as the following will be considered: What does “quality” mean in the context of MathMet? / What are the reasons quality must be taken seriously? / What would be a good way of taking a practical approach to addressing these issues? / Can a QMS provide a way to help ensure consistency of results and thereby ease the “reproducibility crisis”?

Examples of quality plans will be provided. It is hoped that some lively discussion will be generated.
