Conference Welcome Reception

The welcome reception will take place on Monday evening at the Aikaterini Laskaridis Foundation, a prestigious cultural and research institution located in the heart of Piraeus. The Foundation is housed in two beautifully restored neoclassical mansions and hosts world-class collections, including rare books, historical naval archives, and the renowned Nelson Collection. It provides an inspiring setting that reflects the city's maritime identity and cultural heritage. The evening will begin with a guided tour of two of the Foundation's permanent exhibitions, organized in rotating groups. While the guided tours take place, guests will also enjoy a welcome drink served in the Foundation's outdoor courtyard.

Walking from the University of Piraeus to the Aikaterini Laskaridis Foundation takes less than 10 minutes. The distance is approximately 800 meters (0.5 miles). The route is pleasant, passing through central streets of the city toward Pasalimani and 2nd Merarchias Street, where the Foundation is located, a central and easily accessible area near the university.

Conference dinner

The conference dinner will take place Tuesday evening at Piscina Restaurant. Piscina Restaurant in Piraeus is a popular dining spot known for its scenic waterfront location, offering beautiful views of the marina and the sea. The restaurant is located at Marina Zeas, one of the most vibrant and lively areas of Piraeus, and it's well-known for its mediterranean and seafood-focused cuisine.

 

Walking from the University of Piraeus to Piscina Restaurant in Marina Zeas takes about 20 minutes. The distance is approximately 1.7 kilometers (1 mile). The walk will take you through the city center and along the waterfront, leading you to the scenic marina area where the restaurant is located. It’s a pleasant route, especially if you enjoy walking near the sea.

 

Conference Closing Reception

On Wednesday afternoon right after the closing ceremony, we will enjoy some drinks and a small bite together at Marigo Restaurant. Marigo Restaurant is a popular dining spot in Piraeus known for its traditional Greek cuisine. With flavors drawn from another era, Marigo Restaurant uses fresh, high-quality ingredients and recipes from the old notebooks of our grandmothers, bringing them to life through modern cooking techniques.

Walking from the University of Piraeus to the Marigo Restaurant takes about 15 minutes. The distance is approximately 1.5 kilometers (0.9 miles). The route is straightforward, and you’ll be walking through the city center, so it’s a convenient and pleasant walk.
