Location:

The conference will be held on the old campus of the University of Coimbra (also known as Campus I), in the Student Hub facilities located next to Square (Praça) D. Dinis. Portugal's former medieval capital, Coimbra is located in the heart of the country along the Mondego River. Coimbra is celebrated for its University, one of the oldest in Europe and a UNESCO World Heritage Site, which has been a hub of knowledge and culture since 1290. The city is renowned for its historic architecture, including the stunning Joanina Library and the beautiful Sé Velha (Old Cathedral).

How to reach Coimbra: 

Coimbra is strategically located in the centre of Portugal, making it easily accessible by various means of transportation.

From Lisbon International Airport (Humberto Delgado)

By train: You will need to travel by subway or take a taxi to Lisbon Oriente train station. By subway it will be a very short connection (only a few minutes). By taxi, the journey will take approximately 10 minutes.

Trains to Coimbra depart approximately every hour, and the journey takes about 2 hours. We suggest using trains of the type Alfa (faster) or Intercidades. Link: CP - Horários de comboios

Trains arrive at Coimbra B. For more information on how to connect to the city center, please see below, under From Coimbra-B to city center.

 

By bus: You can either go to Lisbon Oriente (by metro) or to the Sete Rios Express Terminal (by taxi). Buses to Coimbra depart every hour, and the journey takes about 2 and a half hours. Check the Rede de Expressos website for schedules and prices: Link: website of Rede de Expressos

By airport shuttle: The shared transfer service "Coimbra Airport Shuttle" offers several regular daily transports between Lisbon and OPorto airports and the city of Coimbra. Check the Coimbra Airport Shuttle website for schedules and prices. Link: Website of Coimbra Airport Shuttle

From OPorto International Airport (Francisco Sá Carneiro) 

By train: You need to travel from OPorto Airport to the Estação de Campanhã (the main train station in OPorto). You can make this journey by taxi or subway, both available at the airport. The journey takes approximately 30 minutes.

Trains arrive at Coimbra B. For more information on how to connect to the city center, please see below, under From Coimbra-B to city center.

By bus: You need to travel from OPorto Airport to the Terminal Intermodal de Campanhã. You can go by subway to Estação Porto de Campanhã (near the terminal) or you can take a taxi and go directly to the terminal. In the terminal, you can find several bus transport operators:

From Coimbra-B to city center

Note: Several surface subway line construction works are underway in the city, which may disrupt public transportation connections.

Trains arrive at Coimbra B, so you may get a connection to Coimbra A (the train ticket will cover this short journey). If you wish to go directly to Campus I (old university campus), you can take bus no. 103 (the stop is near Coimbra A station) and get off at the stop near the former Faculty of Medicine on Rua Larga. Alternatively, bus no. 28 goes from Coimbra-B to Campus I (where the meeting venue is located - Student Hub).

If you choose to take a taxi from Coimbra-B, ask the driver to go to the University, Largo de D. Dinis, via Rua de Aveiro.

Coimbra is also served by transportation platforms, such as Uber.
